Anjleena Kour Sahni, MPA, brings almost a decade of experience to ACLUF-SDIC that informs her community-driven approach to public policy and advocacy work. Her areas of expertise include applied research, coalition-building and local budget advocacy. She is committed to work that brings together community partners and uplifts community voices that have historically been excluded from policymaking.
Prior to joining the ACLUF-SDIC team, Anjleena worked as a researcher and policy analyst at the Center on Policy Initiatives, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting economic, social and racial justice in the San Diego region. She helped to build and lead two local coalitions that focus on uplifting the needs of historically marginalized communities through county and city budget processes. Her work included collaborating directly with more than 30 different local community, labor and faith-based partners to develop budget and policy priorities representative of their members’ needs; producing and presenting accessible public education materials on local government budgets; and leading subsequent research efforts and successful advocacy campaigns.
Anjleena earned a bachelor’s in international studies-political science from the University of California, San Diego. She also holds a master’s of public administration and a graduate certificate of public policy from the University of Southern California.
She is originally from the Bay Area and is the proud daughter of Sikh-Punjabi immigrants.
