Courtney Brown joined the ACLU-SDIC in August of 2024 as senior philanthropy officer. Courtney is originally from Houston, Texas, and she has lived in San Diego for the last 12 years. She has almost a decade of experience working with major donors during her time as director of philanthropy at Casa Cornelia Law Center and later as director of development at Jewish Family Service of San Diego. Courtney was an active member of the Women Give San Diego giving circle for 11 years and served as co-president from 2017-2019.
Courtney received her bachelor’s in global studies from UCLA and her master’s in sociology of crime, control, and globalization from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She wrote her dissertation on harmful media narratives pertaining to immigration at the U.S./Mexico border. Since high school, she has been passionate about helping to create a more just and equitable world.
Courtney lives with her husband, their two young kids and their dog. In her free time, Courtney loves to explore San Diego with her family, try new restaurants, and make delicious snacks and drinks for friends.
