SAN DIEGO — As activists rally at California State University at San Marcos today, the ACLU will fly a plane overhead towing a banner urging Congressman Darrell Issa to support passage of a clean Dream Act by the end of the year.

The aerial message is part of the #CAisMyHome campaign launched yesterday by the state’s three ACLU affiliates to demand that California GOP House members Paul Cook (CA-08), Darrell Issa (CA-49), Devin Nunes (CA-22), Ed Royce (CA-39) and Mimi Walters (CA-45) support a clean Dream Act.

The plane will fly over Cal State San Marcos from 12pm to 2pm today, towing a banner that reads: “Rep. Issa: #CAisMyHome pass Dream Act Now.” Occurring on campus at the same time will be the “Operation Dream Act NOW!” rally sponsored by United We Dream and the San Diego Dream Team.

Norma Chavez-Peterson, executive director of the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties said:

“Now is the moment Congress must act. The fate of more than 200,000 California Dreamers – our neighbors, our friends and our colleagues – is in the hands of Congressman Issa and his colleagues. But Congressman Issa has yet to support this bipartisan legislation to ensure that our fellow Californians can stay in their homes and in our communities without fear of deportation. There is a narrow window of opportunity, and Congressman Issa and the other California Republicans must act before it closes. We urge him to immediately support the Dream Act and work to pass it before the end of the year.”

The #CAisMyHome campaign also announced yesterday that it will run digital ads targeting Congressman Issa and the other representatives. You can see the ads here: https://youtu.be/jrrLgDzgQHQ
