Guided by a commitment to liberation and justice for all people, Sarah is an organizer at her core. She is dedicated to leading a fundraising program that advances equity and centers principles of social and economic justice.
After being born in Texas, growing up in Colorado and spending 10 years in San Francisco, Sarah moved with her partner, pets and plants to San Diego in early 2021. She has spent her career in non profits -- working in youth development, strengthening communities, addressing food insecurity and advancing abortion access and reproductive freedom. Sarah comes to the ACLU from Planned Parenthood Federation of America where she worked as a Senior Philanthropy Officer and served as a proud member of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Committee, representing her unionized colleagues.
Sarah's “happy place” is feeling connected to her community, she loves attending neighborhood events, frequenting locally owned small businesses and hosting gatherings and fundraisers. Sarah contributes her free time to abolitionist campaigns, anti-capitalist efforts and workers' rights.
Sarah loves nature and adventure and spends her free time scouring tidepools, learning about plants and mushrooms, traveling and snorkeling/scuba diving whenever possible. Sarah is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and a lifelong learner.
