Caitlyn Stone, born and raised in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, has dedicated her career to advancing the causes of underserved communities.

Before joining the ACLU-SDIC in 2024 as philanthropy relations officer, Caitlyn spent several years in the international development sector, focusing on achieving economic justice for marginalized communities in Africa and Asia. Prior to that, she received her bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations at UC Santa Barbara, and a master's degree in East Asian studies from the University of Southern California. While living in China as a graduate student, her research centered on the social movements opposing China-backed dam projects and their impacts on rural and indigenous communities in Burma (Myanmar).

Now based in Southern California, Caitlyn is excited to continue to channel her energy into creating a more just and equitable society through her work at the ACLU-SDIC. When she finds the time, Caitlyn indulges her love for travel, seeking out destinations where she can immerse herself in different cultures. She also contributes her free time to helping grassroots organizations in west and southeastern Africa effect social change.
